Fish Medicine and Surgery

Antibiotics, parasiticides, and disinfectants are often used when treating pet fish. Our veterinarians are highly trained in the use of these medications for a multitude of fish diseases including bacterial, viral, and parasitic causes. Dr. Lore will often recommend a variety of diagnostic tests such as a fin clip, skin scrape, gill biopsy, or culture to get to the bottom of why your beloved fish is sick. We offer fish euthanasia and necropsy (the animal form of autopsy) when needed. Additionally, house calls can be made for pet fish on a limited basis when transport is not possible for the client. Dr. Lore also has formal training and experience in fish anesthesia and surgery if these services are indicated.
